How To Select The Best CBD Oil

Kat's Naturals 1500mg CBD Naked Hemp Oil

When it comes to choosing a CBD oil to purchase, there are three key areas you should look into; the strength, the ingredients, and the process used to produce the oil before it goes on sale. Hundreds of CBD oil products are available from dozens of CBD brands. It’s a wise move to do some research before making your CBD oil purchase. Let’s take a look at the three key ares on how to select the best CBD oil.

CBD Oil Strength

CBD Oil comes in a variety of strengths, ranging from 150mg up to 5000mg. The most common size of oil sold is in 1oz or 30ml bottles. Lower strength oils are recommended for consumers who are just starting out using CBD, while the higher strength oils are good options for regular users who want a higher dosage. You will pay more per milligram of CBD with the lower strength oils, and save a considerable amount by buying higher strength products.

CBD Oil Ingredients

The first ingredient to consider is the CBD itself. There are two primary options for CBD in oils. The first is Full Spectrum CBD, which will have a minimal THC content, no higher than 0.3%. You get the benefit of all the plant compounds in full spectrum CBD, including several other cannabinoids, terpenes, and amino acids. Full spectrum oil is the most common type of CBD oil sold, as it provides an entourage effect, where all the compounds work together from the whole hemp plant. If you want just the CBD, then look for a product that uses CBD Isolate, which is typically 99% pure CBD, and zero THC. This is a viable option if you are worried that THC could show up in a drug test.

The second main ingredient to look for in CBD oils, is the main carrier oil. The three most common carrier oils you will see in these products are, olive oil, coconut (MCT) oil, and hemp seed oil. All the oils provide beneficial fatty acids and selecting one may come down to personal taste.

Natural flavored CBD oil is a common product choice for consumers and keeps the ingredients simple, with just the CBD and the carrier oil. Other flavor options are available, and typically include essential oils such as peppermint, lemon, and orange. Some varieties of CBD oil use artificial flavoring and sweeteners such as stevia. We like the natural versions, but if the hemp flavor is a turn off for you, several companies offer flavored varieties.

Looking at the overall ingredient base, the best CBD oils will use organic ingredients, be non-GMO, and preservative free. American grown organic hemp provides the highest quality CBD.

CBD Oil Production Process

CBD oil can be extracted from industrial hemp in many ways. CO2 and steam extraction are the most beneficial ways to extract the CBD, while a solvent extraction is the least desirable. Research how the CBD is extracted before you make a purchase.

Lab testing of CBD products ensures that you get the potency and purity advertised on the CBD oil. Testing can also rule out pesticides, herbicides, and heavy metals. CBD products that go through all of this testing, and have it done via a third-party laboratory, are your best bet for getting a quality CBD oil product.
