Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It

Comments and User Reviews

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

We allow visitors to our website to leave User Reviews on products listed on the site. We make no claims to agree or disagree with content added by visitors on User Reviews or Comments. We will monitor User Reviews and Comments to the best of our ability, and have the option at our sole discretion to remove any visitor provided content that we deem as inappropriate, blatantly false, or containing profanity.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact Forms and Website Registration

We collect and store your First Name, Last Name, User Name, and Email Address if you register on the website or complete a contact form.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics and Re-Marketing

We use third party analytics companies (Google Analytics and other services) to track your activity on our website, including location, pages viewed, and other web statistics. We may provide this data to third parties for re-marketing purposes.

Data Sharing

In the event of a merger or acquisition, we may transfer all personal account data and site visitor created content to the acquiring or new entity.

If legally required to, we will share your personal account information.

How Long We Retain Your Data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What Rights You Have Over Your Data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Third Party Services

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Children’s Policy

Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 18 (“Children”).

We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 18. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with Personal Information, please contact us. If we discover that a child under 18 has provided us with Personal Information, we will delete such information from our servers immediately.

How We Protect Your Data

We use third party web hosting to store all our website data, and rely on their security systems to keep data secure.

What Data Breach Procedures We Have in Place

If we determine that there was a data breach and user data stored on the site was compromised, we will contact all users impacted as soon as reasonably possible.

Advertising and Affiliates

We use third party advertising on our website, which may include vendors related to products we review or post information on, as well as Google Adsense advertising.

We may establish affiliate relationships with vendors shown on our website and earn income from purchases made on third party websites.

We operate under a general FDA disclaimer for all content posted on the website, as follows:

All statements, articles, reviews, and data made by us on the website, have not been evaluated by the food and drug administration (FDA), and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
